Adding a Currency

When creating or importing a wallet you have a choice of which currencies to include initially.

Example wallet

To show you how to add a currency we've created this wallet and selected only Litecoin as its inital currency.

Main menu

Adding currencies is done through the main menu, select the 'Add currency' option to proceed to the currency add screen.

Add currency screen

On this screen you see a list of currencies you can add to your wallet. Either scroll through or search for your currency by tapping the search icon at the top left.

Heat wallet supports over 1,000 different tokens and currencies. To assist you in quickly finding the currency you are looking for a fuzzy search algorithm is applied which means we display results based on proximity. Just start typing either the name of the token, its symbol or which blockchain it belongs to to find it.

Address creation

Adding a currency in some cases means creating new keys and corresponding addresses which are stored in your wallet. For this we need your pin code in order to decrypt your master key since we need that to derive keys for the blockchain you selected. This is the case when you add a new 'Native' blockchain currency (in our example this would be Bitcoin).

In other cases when you are adding a token instead of a native currency you will not be asked for your pincode when an address for that blockchain already exists. This is the case when you already have added Ethereum or Heat and are now adding an Ethereum erc20 token or Heat asset.

Complete

After you enter your pincode a progress dialog is shown while private keys are derived and addresses are created. When done your new currency will show up on your screen.
