Supported Wallet Types
Heat Wallet supports multiple wallet options for HEAT:
- Addresses: Import and manage HEAT addresses for secure and efficient transactions.
- Private Keys: Securely import and manage wallets using your private key.
- Recovery Seeds: Restore and manage wallets using a recovery seed for added flexibility and security.
Important Note About HEAT Keys
When the HEAT project initially launched, it used twelve-word keys, but these were not true BIP32 recovery seeds. Instead, they functioned as direct private keys. This distinction is important for users looking to import older HEAT keys into Heat Wallet.
Importing Older HEAT Keys
- If you have an older HEAT twelve-word key, you should import it as a private key and select the HEAT network during the import process.
- If this method doesn’t work, you likely have a newer HEAT key.
Importing Newer HEAT Keys
Later versions of HEAT keys began using valid BIP32 seeds. These newer twelve-word keys look identical to the older keys but follow the BIP32 standard.
- If your key is a newer HEAT key, it should be imported as a recovery seed for the best compatibility.
This distinction ensures that all HEAT keys, whether from the project’s early days or the newer standard, are correctly imported and accessible in Heat Wallet. If you experience any issues, ensure you’re using the correct import method based on the type of HEAT key you have.
